(photo courtesy of: nbc and google.com)Good friends are often hard to find so when you find one, cherish him/her. In times of need, we sometimes don't know how to be there. Doing or saying the wrong thing can bring a bit of distance. I've always thought as friends we should have a holiday. Friendship Day. Once a year, plan a trip, sleepover, gift exchange etc. Just simply appreciate your friendship.
Essence Magazine gave us a few tips on What Not to Do.
-Don't try to cheer her up - there's nothing more irritating, because it makes you feel dismissed. Instead ask how she feels.
-Avoid platitudes like - God never gives us more than we can handle. They can sound preachy. It's better to speak from the heart.
-Don't say "I know just what you're going through" because you don't. Say instead, I can only imagine what you're going through.
-Avoid saying "call me if you need me" instead offer specific forms of help. "I'd like to bring dinner over tonight" No one likes to ask for help.

those are good tips.
the whole call me if u need me and Im here if you need me stuff is so insensitive. It sucks that its hard to find good friends. I think everyone has good in them its just trust issues and the clashing of personalities esp when it comes to females.
Lovely post.
Honestly, these tips were right on time. LOL. Was going in to detail, but I'm just going to leave it at that.

Great tips...definitely some food for thought. Makes me rethink the impression these sayings give. Cool post=]
